A much appreciated gesture Lynn. I may one day personally speak with Mr. James, but presently I write here for your edification if you will receive it. I understand from your post that you affirm some of the views put forth by Mr. James in opposition to the millennial view and I am curious to know your thoughts with regard to my above comment if you are willing to share them.

Mr. Eli James has not properly divided the word of truth. It is true that there is no coming back after the lake of fire final judgment. Jesus' return to establish the kingdom on earth, however, is clearly distinguished as a separate event from the final judgment where in all disobedient souls are committed to the lake of fire forever. His assumption that the 1000 years spoken of in Revelation 20:1-7 has already passed is a false assumption. The thousand year reign is immediately preceded by the first resurrection of only the righteous dead, the battle of Har Megiddo, Christ's victory over the armies of the beast, and is characterized as the establishment of His Kingdom on earth wherein He reigns over the nations (on the earth) with His saints (Revelation 19:11-20:6). That the first resurrection of the righteous dead and the catching up of the saints that remain has not happened, neither has the 1000 years begun. The fact that Jesus has not yet returned to fight against and defeat the beast and his armies at Har Megiddo also gives indication that the 1000 years has not yet begun. Furthermore, Mr. James asserts that when scripture speaks of the establishment of the Kingdom (wherein the saints reign with Christ 1000 years) mentioned in Revelation 20:6 as the same event spoken of in Revelation 21. That assertion is the source of much confusion in his writing as well as even a superficial reading of Revelation 20 and 21 will indicate that the 1000 year reign (Rev. 20) is distinct from the final eternal kingdom with no end (Rev. 21). The final judgment (separate from the first resurrection) happens after the revived satanic rebellion, and consequently the first creation, at the end of the 1000 years is destroyed with fire (2 Peter 3:10-13, Revelation 20:9). That the second coming of Christ and the final judgment are different events separated by 1000 years is even more evident in Revelation 20:10 which reads:

The devil, who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Scripture indicates that the beast and the false prophet are already in the lake of fire when satan gets there as they were thrown in after their defeat at the second coming of Christ. Because God has not yet finished with His purpose for satan, He permits him to only be bound, not yet destroyed, at the second coming. There is much more to be said on this topic, but this shall do for now. Grace and peace~

We are recognizing that man created God in his own image, and that the "laws" man wrote and attributed to God are actually creative writing.

The Bible is a novel that needs revision and editing.

Isn't funny how men refuse to change due to truth but they should at the slightest hint they ave something wrong, change it immediately. I came from a church that misused this truth and caused many to turn away from God. Sad.... The church I went to has changed from calling it evil to allowing divorced into their members yet still do not have the truth. They cannot allow the exception with not truly even understanding what the exception means. Marriage is not to be taken lightly and today marriage is not what it was intended to be. There is a message in marriage that should be told concerning Christ and his marriage to his Israel. Churches seem to fail to recognize the symbolism of comparing marriage of humans to that of Christ due to the way the world misunderstands God's laws and ways toward marriage. Thank you for your reply and I pray that the elders in your church will receive the truth and understanding on this subject. God Bless you.

Three things I (Brandon) offer as food for thought:

1) Scripture gives indication that the 70th week of Daniel is not yet fulfilled. The end to sacrifice and offering mentioned as happening in the middle of the week in 9:27 is also mentioned in the prophecy of the end in 12:11. If this be the same event spoken of in lesser and greater detail in these two passages, then as the end has not yet come, neither has the complete fulfillment of the 70th week prophecy. Furthermore, the abomination that causes desolation could very well be linked with the image of the beast created and worshiped in Revelation 13:14-15.

2) The Bible is unmistakeably clear that when Jesus comes back, His feet DO touch the ground. Zechariah 14:1-5 reads:

Behold, the day of the Lord is coming and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. yes, you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with You.

3) His second coming will not destroy the earth, but rather restore it. He cannot both destroy the entire earth and be King over all the earth at the same time (Zechariah 14:8-9). At His second coming, once He has destroyed His enemies at the battle of Har Megiddo (Revelation 19:17-19), He reigns on the earth with His saints for 1000 years (Revelation 20:4-6) with an iron rod (Revelation 19:14-15). It is only after the 1000 reign when Satan is released and his subsequent rebellion crushed that the earth and heaven flee away, at the final judgment (Revelation 20:7-11). Then, and only then, does there come the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1).

I trust that as you are an ardent lover and seeker of truth, you will be diligent to discover what truth is to be found in the above three points. In closing, I want to assure you that the Lord has also led me to understand the fallacy of pre-trib rapture and furthermore has helped me to understand that the saints are to expect to endure the fire of tribulation as well. There is much more to be said regarding these issues and in due time we may yet have the opportunity to discuss them. I am confident that as we each continue to strive for and follow our Lord wherever He leads us, we will undoubtedly come the same conclusions regarding these, and many other points of doctrine. If it should be so that we have received the same Spirit of Christ (and I suspect that it may be the case) then "the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him." 1 John 2:27 May grace and peace be yours.

Indeed, as children of God our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20). As citizens of the kingdom of heaven, we are strangers in this land and should have no business meddling the world's politics. Our King has chosen us from the foundation of the world and so, we have no need for the present day "democratic" process. Even if there were an apparently righteous candidate according to Yahweh's standards running for the office of 'king' of the United States, we saints are to wait for our coming Lord Jesus to establish His Kingdom on His terms. After all, <a href="http://actschurch.wordpress.com/2008/09/06/the-gospel-of-the-kingdom/" title="the gospel" rel="nofollow"> itself is a political message...

As a pastor I've been ashamed at the poor exegesis or no exegesis we put to these verses of scripture about divorce and remarriage for decades. You've done an excellent job and your work should be seriously considered by many in the fundamental/evangelical church circles, who have terribly abused those who have fallen into the wreckage of divorce. My elders are studying this right now to research a fresh view of God's truth, and I'll quote some of your work to them, which I find quite biblical. God bless you.
